In May 2025, Food Services’ chefs David Speight, Darren Clay, Johnny Bridge and Amanda Rehel once again volunteered with Growing Chefs, a local non-profit organization. This year was the fifth year that our chefs have volunteered with the program since 2018, and their second year at Bayview Community Elementary School in Kitsilano. This year, the team led a grade one class through activities such as planting a windowsill garden, pickling vegetables, discussing food preferences and culturally appropriate foods, and making a salad.
