“Kathy Lum has dedicated an incredible 34 years to UBC Food Services. Her journey began humbly as a sales attendant, but her passion for food soon led her into the cold kitchen, where she crafted beautiful and delicious salads, sandwiches and appetizer platters for countless guests. In her final years, she delighted us all with her bakeshop confections, adding a sprinkle of sweetness to our team.
“Kathy has been a part of some of our most cherished moments, from the electrifying energy of the 2010 Winter Olympics to the intellectually stimulating gatherings of the 2008 and 2019 Congress of the Humanities. She has also created food for numerous graduations and weddings, adding her special touch to these milestone celebrations. Her warmth, professionalism, and unwavering commitment shone brightly at every turn, making every event a success.
“As Kathy bids farewell to her time at UBC, let’s celebrate her countless contributions and wish her a retirement filled with relaxation, adventure and all the sweetness life has to offer.”
