Farewell to Pacific Spirit Place
In August, we said goodbye to Pacific Spirit Place (PSP) in the old SUB. PSP was home to many SHHS staff over the years and is filled with memories. Sherman Kong sent us a brief testimonial, plus a few pictures of PSP before the crews moved in to renovate.

This August, we opened an amazing campus facility. Orchard Commons is our newest student residence, home to UBC Vantage College, 1,047 student residents, and our favourite place to eat on campus, Open Kitchen.

Move In Day 2016
Residence Move In Day, which took place on September 3, was particularly special this year. Not only did we welcome a record number of students to campus, we were joined by UBC’s new President Professor Santa Ono.
UBC Wedding Venue & Tasting Tour
On June 15, SHHS hosted the UBC Wedding Venue & Tasting Tour in partnership with Cecil Green Park House and UBC Rose Garden to highlight the dramatic venues available for weddings at UBC and the exquisite catering provided by Sage and Wescadia.
Mike Cheung Wins NACURH Residence Life Staff Member of the Month
Mike Cheung – Residence Life Manager, Walter Gage Residence – was recognized internationally as the Residence Life Staff Member of the Month for April 2016 by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH).
Never a Dull Moment
UBC during the summer months is an incredible place to be. Of course, we’re all hard at work getting ready for our incoming cohort of first year students, hosting conferences in our spectacular venues or catering weddings at Cecil Green Park House. Many of us are also trying to squeeze in some time in the sunshine – at lunch with colleagues or on the weekend with family and friends.
