This year, Student Housing Vancouver piloted a new initiative to help students living in Winter Session residence get a head start on and reduce waste during move out in April. Ahead of the Midterm Break in February, donation zones were set up and a campaign was launched to encourage students to declutter their units, donate any items they no longer wanted or, if applicable, take any belongings home over the break. In total, 3.45 metric tonnes of material was collected and donated, the majority of which was clothing and shoes.
