As some of you know, this winter we are adding a new department to the SHCS family: Child Care Services at the Okanagan campus.
Up until now, child care at UBCO has been operated by a parent-run, non-profit society, but to best sustain and support the operation moving forward management is being transferred to SHCS Okanagan.
We are pleased to also announce that we have hired Alicia Larson as the inaugural Associate Director, Child Care at the Okanagan campus, and she started in this new role on January 23, 2023.

About Alicia
For the past six years, Alicia has been an Early Childhood Education instructor with Okanagan College.
Prior to her time at Okanagan College, she held roles at the Kelowna Child Care Society including Program Consultant and Program Coordinator for Child Care Resource and Referral.
Alicia’s background also includes work as an Assistant Director and Outreach Worker in Saskatchewan, along with Early Childhood Education in Ontario. She also worked as a Child Life Specialist in hospital settings in both BC and Ontario.
In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care from the University of Victoria, Alicia has her Early Childhood Educator Certificate and is a certified Child Life Specialist.
